Animal Adventures

Have a fun filled week learning about animal care and food that comes from animals. Visit a dairy farm and practice making ice cream. Tour the Animal Hospital at the University of Missouri and learn how both small and large animals are treated. Check out the University of Missouri's meat lab and uncover how to judge good cuts of meat. Then whip up your own jerky and sausage. Trips to horse, cattle and sheep farms will expose you to more ways to care for horses, cattle, sheep and chickens. $139

Learn how to stretch a canvas and paint with mixed media, textured acrylic, fabric/ribbon scraps, magazine images, found objects. Also research the history of canvas floor cloths and create your own, complete with a final finish coat of polyurethane or polycyclic so it can adorn a mudroom, bathroom, foyer, or hang on a wall. Paint techniques of faux finishing, stenciling, and simple brush strokes will be taught. $129

Come investigate our mock crime scene and see if you can answer the question "Who did it?" Practice the procedures for collecting, documenting and processing evidence. Practice welding skills by making a shepherd's hook to hold your basket and can go in your garden or flower bed. Work with wood to build a mini picnic table that doubles as a planter.
