Phlebotomy Technician

The Phlebotomist is a vital member of the clinical laboratory team. The main function of the Phlebotomist is to draw blood from patients for test purposes. They are employed in a wide variety of settings throughout the health care system. The demand for Phlebotomy Technicians has increased substantially with the overall complexity of health care services and the risks of infectious disease.

This program is taught through traditional classroom settings, laboratory and clinical experience. Students will be trained to perform a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and safety precautions. Classroom work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and clinical training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods.

Our Phlebotomy Program is split into two parts. In Part 1, students will learn through traditional classroom and laboratory settings. Part 2 has six advanced topic lectures, continued laboratory practice, and requires 100 hours of clinical experience. You must pass Part 1 with a 70% or better to move onto Part 2, where you will begin your daytime clinical hours*.

*Clinical hours can only be done during normal working hours (8am-5pm) so please make sure that will work with your schedule before applying
