The job of an Emergency Medical Technician (either at the Basic or at the Paramedic level) is one of great importance. Jobs for an EMT can include: emergency medical care of a patient following an accident or emergency situation, usually en route to a medical facility; transfer of patients to an emergency department of a medical facility; and transportation of patients between medical facilities.
The difference between the EMT-Basic and the EMT-Paramedic is one of experience and training with EMT-B being a basic, "first response" level and EMT-P being equipped to provide more extensive pre-hospital care.
EMT-Basic Program
The EMT-B covers all emergency medical techniques currently considered to be within the responsibility of those providing emergency care in a pre-hospital setting as required by the Missouri Department of Health, Department of Senior Services, and Unit of Emergency Medical Services.
